Muheza residents in Tanga Region have asked the government to fulfill its promise of providing an ambulance for the district council made by former president Jakaya Kikwete.
Speaking to The Guardian yesterday at Ubwari health centre in Mbaramo area, some patients complained that they are forced to find their own transport to go to the referral hospital in case of emergency, causing inconveniences to them.
"When President Kikwete visited our district last year he promised us at Jitegemee grounds that he would bring an ambulance to the hospital to facilitate transfer of patients who are referred to hospital but he has not fulfilled his promise,” said one of the patients at the hospital who preferred anonymity.
He said villagers have requested Muheza Member of Parliament Adadi Rajabu to convey their message to President John Magufuli to see the possibilities of providing the ambulance to the hospital.
On his part, Mbaramo ward councilor who is also Muheza District CCM Publicity Secretary Seif Makame said that they have also informed Vice President Samia Suluhu during her visit to the party’s office in Tanga a fortnight ago.
